The Future of BDSM: What Will It Look Like?

Unlike gay and transgender dating which need to have whole movements behind them to be accepted by the society, the BDSM sexual preference is a whole different story. This “activity” doesn’t care if you’re straight, gay or into chicks with d***s – as long you’re willing to tie yourself or your partner with a rope or get slapped, you’re all good!

But as it is with any popular trend, so is BDSM evolving every day. Not only are we seeing more and more people openly declare themselves as submissive or dominatrix nowadays but also the notable increase in a number of online and offline places for BDSM enthusiasts to hang out. With that in mind, let’s take a look at what future holds for BDSM.

The Exchange of Power

For those of you that aren’t familiar with the subject matter, BDSM stands for bondage, discipline, domination, submission, sadism, and masochism. These are all different faces of a unified sexual lifestyle that has gained a lot of members in the past couple of decades but has also been around since the Middle Ages.

To put it bluntly, being into BDSM means that you enjoy the exchange of power that it requests. One partner has to give up their power, the other one has to assume power, and the games can begin. Whether it’s ropes, whips, handcuffs, needles or paddles, going into BDSM means you’re ready to either be the top or the bottom – in other words, to assume or release control.

More Ways to Connect

Now, let’s talk about what BDSM might become in the future. Just like we’ve mentioned before, there are now more ways for submissives and dominants to connect with each other. From online dating sites and apps to actual restaurants and cafes dedicated to BDSM, it has become very easy to find a place to meet fellow BDSM lovers.

Technological Advancements

Apart from the community, the BDSM lovers can now implement various upgrades to their sexual routine, thanks to technology. Better hardware and more variety allow BDSM enthusiasts to experience things they previously thought were impossible.

While in the past they only had plain whips, leather gimp suits, and strap-ons, those who practice BDSM regularly nowadays have a chance to go as far as to remotely control certain sex toys to punish their slaves without even being there in the first place!

Welcome to the Matrix

Speaking of upgrading your BDSM arsenal thanks to new technology, we can’t skip mentioning virtual reality. Although it started as a logical expansion of the video-game industry, many adult entertainment companies have extended their reach into the VR, allowing people to experience sex dungeons and fetish indulging by putting on a pair of virtual reality goggles and playing their favorite ‘level’.

Away with the Stigma

The biggest (and only) downside of BDSM is a social stigma, without question. However, this seems to be changing rapidly, especially in comparison to other non-orthodox sexual preferences.

When combined with all the advancements it’s been experiencing lately, BDSM is looking to become a regular and completely accepted part of everyday life very soon.
